True friends are always there for us. They accept us for who we are, with no sense of judgement, and give invaluable support.
All relationships require trust and respect though – and this takes ongoing effort. Many people also struggle to make new friends as they get older.
Healing crystals are brilliant for improving and nurturing friendships. By stimulating a positive vibration in your energy field, they encourage joy, companionship and love. So, if you want to create meaningful and long-lasting friends, add these nine crystals to your collection.
Which are the Best Friendship Stones?
Colour: Opaque, Green, Yellow, Blue, Grey
Barite is a barium-based mineral that’s often found in lead and silver mines. It’s a fragile stone, so it’s rare in jewellery, but is a great choice if shyness holds you back.
It can be hard to show your true self when feeling self-conscious or shy. Barite gives confidence by releasing suppressed emotions, allowing you to express deeper thoughts and feelings. This is essential for forming lasting and fulfilling relationships.
Barite isn’t just a stone for shyness though. It also highlights potential problems in a relationship, so they can be improved, and encourages deep loyalty.
Note: Do not cleanse barite with water. Unlike harder friendship crystals, this stone only has a Mohs Hardness score of three, so it will dissolve or crack in water.
2. Golden Yellow Topaz (Crystal of Potency, True Love and Success)
Colour: Golden Yellow
Chakra: Solar Plexus, Sacral
Origin: Mexico, Japan, Brazil, Australia, Madagascar, Myanmar, Russia, Africa, Sri Lanka, USA
Golden yellow topaz promotes deep friendships and reminds you to value true friends.
It’s a fun, sunny crystal that brings a real sense of joy. This makes your relationship more special, as it’ll sparkle with fun-loving enthusiasm. Like-minded people will be drawn to this magnetism and soon become part of your social circle.
As golden yellow topaz is a symbol of friendship, it makes a wonderful crystal to give a soulmate or close friend.
3. Malachite (Stone of Transformation)
Chakra: Heart, Throat
Origin: Romania, Zambia, Russia, Germany, Middle East
Malachite is a beautiful stone for when a friendship is going through a rocky patch.
Negative feelings and emotions can make it difficult to communicate with a friend. This can lead to feelings of resentment or even arguments.
Malachite excels at absorbing negative energy and releasing unwanted emotions. With these feelings out of the way, it’s much easier to repair a friendship.
These healing properties can also help when making friends. It’s impossible for new friendships to flourish when you hold negative feelings, so use malachite to maintain a positive outlook.
4. Lapis Lazuli (Stone of Friendship, Truth and Total Awareness)
Colour: Deep Blue
Chakra: Throat, Third Eye
Origin: Afghanistan, Russia, USA, Chile, Egypt, Middle East
Lapis lazuli is probably the most recognised stone for friendship, as it helps develop new relationships while strengthening existing ones.
As a Stone of Friendship and Truth, its healing powers enhance honest communication, which is the cornerstone of any good relationship.
Through balancing the Throat Chakra and Third Eye, lapis lazuli helps you to express feelings constructively. This means you’ll speak from a higher state of consciousness and be less judgemental.
5. Rose Quartz (Stone of Unconditional Love)
Origin: USA, Japan, India, Brazil, Madagascar, South Africa, Argentina, Mexico
If a relationship has become strained or needs a compassionate perspective, rose quartz’s healing energy will help.
Through opening your Heart Chakra, rose quartz brings a kind-hearted approach to your discussions.
Rose quartz can also soothe the pain of losing a friendship.
6. Watermelon Tourmaline
Colour: Pink and Green
Origin: Brazil, Afghanistan, USA, Madagascar, Nigeria
Watermelon tourmaline links the Heart Chakra with the Higher Heart, so is wonderful at times of reconciliation. It mimics the colours of the fruit and looks stunning in jewellery.
This crystal promotes a tender healing energy. By removing blockages, it encourages a compassionate, tolerant nature.
Through balancing the lower Chakras to the upper Chakras, negative emotions such as anger, jealousy or blame are discarded, being replaced with loving diplomacy.
7. Carnelian (Stone of Motivation, Endurance and Courage)
Colour: Orange, Red
Chakra: Sacral, Root
Origin: India, Romania, USA, Peru, Britain, Czech Republic, Iceland, Slovakia, Brazil
Carnelian’s sunset hues provide an uplifting energy that helps maintain healthy relationships. This stone promotes a positive attitude, which is a desirable trait for anyone wanting to make new friends.
It also dispels destructive emotions, such as possessiveness, which helps restore balance to existing friendships.
8. Blue Chalcedony (Stone of Friendship, Speaking and Meditation)
Origin: South Africa
As a Stone of Friendship, you couldn’t find a more appropriate crystal than blue chalcedony for building stronger bonds.
It encourages laughter and good listening skills. These are two important qualities to keep friendships open, honest and spontaneous.
Blue chalcedony’s calm nature also makes it the perfect crystal when friends need support.
9. Black Kyanite
Not all friendships last forever. Some fade as our lives and outlook change, which is perfectly natural.
Unfortunately, others may start to have a negative influence. This is where black kyanite can help.
Through breaking emotional ties to a negative friendship, black kyanite promotes a renewed positive energy. It can stop you feeling drained after meeting a friend, or even allow you to create some distance. Black kyanite’s healing energy also flows through all Chakras, which promotes balanced relationships.
BONUS CRYSTAL: Pyrolusite
Pyrolusite is a prismatic mineral consisting mainly of manganese. It’s one of my favourite crystals for rebuilding your life with new friendships.
After divorce or other major life changes, you can lose confidence in your social skills. Friendship groups can also be broken up through a split in loyalties, leading to feelings of loneliness. This mineral gives you the optimism needed to find a new network of supportive friends.

Other Tips for Using Gemstones and Crystals for Friendship
Crystal healing is a fabulous way to enhance friendships or bring new friends to you.
Below are just a few ways that you can use them for friendship:
- Friendship bracelets have become increasingly popular. You can include any of the crystals in this article, but it’s also nice to incorporate stones that capture the essence of your friend.
- Healing crystals make lovely gifts. Tune into your friend and allow your intuition to guide you to the right crystal.
- Wearing crystal jewellery keeps a stone’s healing energy inside your energy field when meeting a friend. You can also buy a set of two necklaces, so you can have one each.
- Place crystal for friendships around a picture of a friend that you’ve lost touch with. This will help to bring that person back to you.
Which Angels are Associated With Friendship?
The Angels I most associate with friendship are:
- Archangel Michael – Michael is the Angel for strength and communication. I invoke him when I need to speak honestly to a friend. He resonates with lapis lazuli, sugilite and blue kyanite – which is known as the Sword of Truth.
- Angel Mihr – This is the Angel of Friendship. Invoke Mihr when you wish to heal a friendship or bring people together. Light yellow crystals resonate well with Him.
- Archangel Chamuel – I invoke this Angel when I want to promote a peaceful or loving friendship. He also brings comfort when suffering the loss of a friendship. Use green fluorite, chrysoprase, red jasper and pink tourmaline with this Angel.
Healthy friendships give you a wonderful sense of wellbeing. Friends support you through difficult times, while sharing laughter, new experiences, and your achievements.
Healing crystals help you to honour your friendships. They encourage trust, closeness and honesty, which are vital for making or maintaining true friendships.
My favourite crystal for friendship is golden yellow topaz. Its fun-loving energy is fabulous for ensuring that time spent with my friends is enjoyable and respectful. This makes our friendships even more special.
